Well, it didn’t go the way we wanted last night but it’s not over. We have 90 days to regroup and come back stronger. I know many of us left the meeting angry and probably felt like this is hopeless but we need to use that to stay on course and move forward. The Board was pretty smug last night because in their eyes they won, if we give up now, than they really did win and that’s what the board is hoping for! We cannot let that happen. If anything after the meeting that shows me even more we need a new board.
One woman tried to explain to them (and I'm sure all of you have experienced this) when we call the office for anything we are treated as if we are bothering them and they are just rude. However since we have shown interest in a change, the office has made a complete turnaround. As the woman explained this, the President of the board who does live here smiled and said I’ve never had that problem in all the years I have lived here. Of course he hasn’t, but that tells me that the board doesn’t understand our problems or care. I think his solution was when we call we should smile and be polite. (Really?)
The best… Are we paying for the Christmas display at the Hayes house? Let’s be for real, we ALL think that every time we drive by that house Kudos to the guy that brought that up. The landscaping company is the one that puts up and takes down the decorations so you can’t tell me that people don’t wonder who is paying for that.
Through the course of the night certain subject s were side stepped or sugar coated. Granted, many people were defensive when talking to the board, but it’s the board that created the defensiveness. There are huge concerns that I don’t feel like we got any clarity on; the water situation, leaky roofs, following the bylaws, the pool, financial situation, and the list goes on.
Bottom line, please don’t give up. We have come too far to throw it all away. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to give the Board the satisfaction of winning.
