Bischoff BTMA letter to landlords.pdf (357.79 KB)
This is a form letter that appears to be sent only to absentee homeowners.
The main points;
1) The letterhead suggests it is officially sent from BTMA, although without complicated logos, anyone could make it
2) The second paragraph listing "our agenda" is completely made up and obviously included as a scare tactic
3) The mention of us wanting to hire a "Management Company" with no contacts or local knowledge is also in error. We have talked with Comet Management, who is base in Vernon, NJ and is also the management company for Laurelton Woods, in Bricktown, for the last four years. They also suggested a 3 month trial period to see if we would even be comfortable with them.
4) The mention of "personal vendettas" and "lies and false accusations" is non-sense. Although, I'm sure there is plenty of room for personal vendettas, none have been expressed to me personally or even in meetings. As to lies and false accusations, not really sure where that comes from. It may just be a personal perspective. All comments presented by myself are substantiated first and followed up with care not to promote false information.
5) The signor is an individual of unknown relationship to BTMA.
The proxy form is the same as I saw, earlier this week. I have already posted an explanation of the meaning of this proxy and the effect of it's content on anyone signing it. The form is being included with the letter to the landlords. The proxy form distributed within the complex, has not been reported to have a letter accompanying it, and is not known, who is actually handling it's distribution.
Phone Call to BTMA Office 10/17/2014:
Due to the nature of the letter and the potential liability, directed towards BTMA, I called the office to inquire and/or warn them of such. They informed me George Bischoff is listed with them as only a homeowner. He is not directly associated as a representative in any way with BTMA. I informed them of the letter and my concern to ascertain if this was a letter backed by BTMA or Metro or just a bad error in judgement by a homeowner. I was told that Mary Anne does have a copy of this letter, and then told they would not discuss it with me. I affirmed that I had called to notify them just in case, as I would be speaking with an attorney, and thanked them for their time. And they thanked me for calling.
Even though this concerns me, due to the false statements, it also concerns me that the Association is put into a potential situation for liability, due to possible identity theft of BTMA, of which we all would have to bear the cost.
