I saw someone mention about whether we could have solar panels put on the buildings. Does anyone know what the costs could be? Or if that would even be feasible to consider? How long would it take to pay for itself? I'm not overly knowledgeable on the details. Hopefully someone will have more first hand experience to comment on this.

Usually almost no cost, you sell the power back.

Solar panels are usually sold or leased to individual homeowners. The contracts are quite extensive and would conflict with the associations duties and obligations to the exterior of the property. Not likely to be approved in a condo/townhouse development. Could negate the associations duties to fix and repairs roofs.

I was mistaken, I spoke with John and he had bought solar panels, but Paul Hayes said he could not install them. A solar company offered Mr. Hayes a free presentation and discussion and Mr. Hayes refused it. Wish I had better news.
