Hey all,
I need to replace my patio slider. Has anyone tackled this? Can I do the job myself/ hire my own contractor, or does the assn have rules applying to this job? I am considering replacing the windows as well. Any suggestions are appreciated. Please share any experiences you may have had. Thanks, MR D

I replaced my windows a few years ago and did let Metro know ahead of time. I can't remember if I had to send them something in writing or they just gave me the speech of what was and wasnt allowed, I think they were just thrilled they werent paying for it They told me I had to get the same exact thing (sliders) though I have noticed some people put in the up and down windows. Im going to say its safer to give them the courtesy call.

Thanks for the feedback. Would you recommend the window people you used? Any particular problems ran into? It would be nice if the assn covered the cost as these are most def the original windows and do not slide or lock easily. I expect it's debatable whether windows and patio doors are considered part of the exterior. I do plan on speaking to Metro before any work is done. Still in the pre-planning stages.

I would never reccommend the people I used, (not to mention they went out of business if that tells you anything) It was nothing short of a disaster.
